Frequently asked questions
Q : Where is the Maora built?
A : The Maora is built in the Ardennes and Mayenne (France)
Q : Who can sail the Maora?
A : The Maora is aimed at everyone, from complete novices to experienced sailors
Q : Should I choose the Proa version or the Trimaran version?
A : The Proa version is great fun and economical. However every user of the Proa version should expect to capsize from time to time (especially at the beginning). It's part of the fun. The trimaran version is almost impossible to capsize (except in extreme conditions). You can always switch from one version to the other.
Q : In the Proa version, on which side should the outrigger be mounted?
A : Either, since it is symmetrical.
Q : Where can I sail the Maora?
A : At sea or in a lake.
Q : How many people can sail on a Maora?
A : Up to 112 kg, such as one adult or two children.
Q : Do you need a licence to sail?
A : Maora requires neither a licence nor special insurance (check with your insurance company, it should be covered by your Personal liability cover).
Q : Do I need a special certificate?
A : Simply ask the Maritime Affairs administrative centre and a navigation permit will be issued (free).
Q : What kind of sail should I choose?
A : If you are only going to choose one, look closely at the sail usage table. If you are a lightweight, you should choose a sail whose surface you can reduce according to the wind force.
